About Eyewise Opticians

I am grateful that, having been testing people’s eyes for 40 years, I am still getting a great buzz out of the work. Well, it does not feel like work; it feels more like a privilege to be able to get to know someone, to understand their needs, and to know that I can make a positive difference to their life by helping them get the best from their eyes.

My particular interests at work revolve around helping children and young adults become confident with their reading and learning performance. I also enjoy fitting contact lenses, especially the Eyedream overnight lens that helps with myopia management.

Away from my darkroom, I enjoy gardening and running. I have endured a few marathons and many half marathons supporting various charities, and this seems to have rubbed off onto my son, Rishi, who seems to be setting the real pace on our father-and-son bonding runs!

One of my proudest achievements was climbing Mt Kilimanjaro a few years ago, a truly inspirational journey that paved the way for other trekking adventures around the Annapurna region and, lately, Everest Base Camp in Nepal. The fresh mountain air does feel good!

I have now also got used to wearing glasses and am enjoying experimenting with different colours and eye shapes. I didn’t know eyewear could be so much fun!

I have worked in optics for more than 24 years and have been a qualified Dispensing Optician since 2012. I joined Eyewise Opticians in 2024 and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. From day one, everyone has been welcoming, supportive, and kind, making it easy to settle into my role and feel part of the team.

The practice has a genuine family atmosphere, with colleagues who work closely together and show great care and respect for one another. It is a positive, friendly environment, and I feel fortunate to be part of such a dedicated team.

Outside of my day-to-day role, I have a keen interest in photography. I often take photographs within the practice to support our social media campaigns, events, and advertising, which is something I particularly enjoy contributing to.

Family life keeps me busy too, as I have two children—a boy and a girl—who certainly keep me on my toes outside of work. When I have some free time, I enjoy going to the cinema and watching a good film. I also make a conscious effort to stay active and keep fit by completing a daily workout.

I am also passionate about travel and believe it is one of the best ways to experience different cultures, meet new people, and appreciate the beauty and diversity of the world.

Hardly a day goes by without the thrill and excitement of being able to help someone with their eyecare. Having been at Eyewise since 2020, I am often the voice at the other end of the phone or the smiley one behind the emails. At the front of house, I love the variety of challenges on a day-to-day basis. Helping people with all their eyecare needs, organising contact lens deliveries and making that freshly brewed cuppa for our clients are what motivates me to look forward to each working day.

At work I am otherwise known as “Bubbles” and I am always on hand to help in any way that I can.

Outside of work, I love being busy with my two sons who are growing up far too quickly! Often we engage in quiz nights, my favourite subject being Harry Potter. On your next visit, you can test me on anything about the legend HP!

I joined Eyewise in April 2018 as a receptionist and have enjoyed every moment of getting to meet and chat with our wonderful patients. I’ve found a real sense of community here and feel like I’ve made many new friends. Before Eyewise, I spent several years working in primary education at two local schools, where I developed strong communication and organisational skills.

Family is incredibly important to me, and I love spending time with my two grown-up children, two grandchildren, our grandpup and occasionally my husband! Growing up, I was always encouraged to participate in sports, which sparked a lifelong love for being active. These days, I’m an enthusiastic runner and a dedicated parkrun participant. I’ve completed over 250 parkruns and volunteered more than 100 times. I’m part of a running club that enjoys touring different parkruns, and so far, I’ve run not only in the UK but also in Germany, the USA, Ireland, Holland, Italy, and Norway and completed the parkrun alphabet. When booking a holiday, my first thought is often, “Where’s the nearest parkrun?” It’s become a fun way to explore new places. I’ve also played Walking Netball for Jersey (I have family in Jersey) in a couple of tournaments, one in Northern Ireland and one in Sussex.

At Eyewise, I also take great pride in my role in creating window displays with my colleague Trupti. I love brainstorming new ideas and finding creative ways to use our existing props to make our displays more interesting and visually appealing. It’s a great way to connect with the local community and bring a bit of personality and creativity to our practice.

I’ve been part of the Eyewise team for a few years now and have spent many more years in the world of optics as a qualified dispensing optician. I’m passionate about helping people find the perfect eyewear that suits their needs and style. I have also completed a colour styling course to enhance my skills.

Outside of my career, I’m a proud mum of two wonderful adult sons. With my children growing and more time on my hands, I’ve embraced new creative outlets. One of my favourite hobbies is painting with oil-based paints. I love the freedom of expressing myself through art, experimenting with different colours, textures, and techniques, and painting whatever feels right in the moment. Although I don’t consider myself a master artist, I’m thrilled to have some of my pieces displayed by my family and friends.

I also have a passion for making personalised gift hampers for friends and family. I enjoy the process of thoughtfully curating items, arranging them beautifully, and adding special touches that show my love and care. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate special occasions and bring a smile to the faces of the people I cherish.

Recently, I’ve discovered the benefits of yoga, which has been a fantastic addition to my routine. Yoga helps me stay fit, both physically and mentally, bringing a sense of balance and calm into my life. It’s become a practice I truly enjoy and look forward to.

I believe in living life with a sense of creativity, mindfulness, and care, and I’m always excited to explore new passions and hobbies.

I am a qualified optician with more than 23 years of experience in the optical industry and have proudly been part of the Eyewise team for the past seven years. Throughout my career, I have been committed to delivering personalised eye care and ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of service.

My extensive experience has given me a strong attention to detail, a thorough understanding of the latest eyewear trends and technologies, and a genuine passion for helping people find the best solutions for their vision needs. I believe that clear vision plays a vital role in overall quality of life, and I strive to make every patient feel comfortable, informed, and confident in their eyewear choices.

Outside of work, I am a proud mother to two wonderful sons who continue to inspire and bring joy to my life. I enjoy staying active through Pilates, which helps me maintain balance and focus both professionally and personally. I also love spending time outdoors, exploring new walking trails and appreciating nature.

Creativity is another passion of mine, particularly when it comes to home renovation and interior design. I enjoy finding innovative ways to transform spaces and create beautiful, functional environments.

As I look ahead, I am excited to continue growing both personally and professionally, embracing new experiences, pursuing new interests, and making lasting memories with my family.
